S E M I L L A | Journey to the Origins
with Maestro Tito La Rosa- Quechua, Sacha Mariel La Rosa, Maestro Benito Apaza- Q’ero, Omar La Rosa (Perú) and Nicole Adriana Casanova (Puerto Rico)
December 1 to December 10, 2022 | Sacred Valley of the Incas, Cusco, Peru.
We are all born with a seed inside of us, the seed of the continuity of Life, the seed of diversity. And we are also all born with a sound inside, the one that takes us back to our inner world, as well as accompanies us on the journey of expanding our consciousness. In this journey, tradition is our source, and Munay (love) is our primordial energy.
-Maestro Tito La Rosa
This will be a journey to the origins through different experiential and communitarian experiences along the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Machu Picchu and the historical city of Cusco. We will have the opportunity to approach and get in touch with different indigenous communities and native people, guardians of the seeds and the cosmovision of our tradition. We will have a deep experience of work, reflection, study and encounter with diversity, with the seed, with the weavings, with the oracular symbols, with the sounds, with the ceremonies, with the rituals and with the Sacred.
Throughout this journey we will interact with different maestros (teachers), who will leave us their seeds of wisdom and their teachings to integrate them into our path. During our time in Peru, we will visit some of the most important “Huacas” (archaeological sites – ancient sanctuaries) of the Cusco region, our ancestral temples, sacred places of our tradition, where we will learn about their history, we will know some of their secrets and we will be able to connect with the energy and medicine of these living spaces that will receive our prayers.
We will have a guided visit to Alqa - Museum of Andean Folk Art, curated by its founders, Johana and Antonio; where we will encounter various pieces of traditional Andean art. Here we will learn about their technical, symbolic and artistic particularities, and thanks to its ability to transmit knowledge, connect with its essence, where it will demonstrate its origins and the way of life of its creators.
We will also be sharing a day with our guide John and visiting 5 high Andean indigenous communities who manage the Parque de la Papa (Potato Park) project, dedicated to the conservation of biological and cultural diversity, where they will share with us their vision and conservation work in agro ecology and traditional knowledge.
Then we will submerge ourselves for five days in the magical, mystical, vibrational and sonorous universe of Maestro Curandero de Sonidos (sound healing master and teacher) Tito La Rosa. Where he will lead us into a deep immersion with sacred sound and Andean tradition, within the oracle of the Abuelas y Abuelos (made up of original pieces of our ancestral culture) and deepening into their secret codes of wisdom, connecting with their multiple meanings, receiving their messages, and also their sound.
We will work with the Mother of all symbols: The Chakana, which is ancestral sacred geometry, a bridge to transcendence. We will work with - and from - the void, since the healing processes happens from the emptiness, which is why we will integrate in this journey the Bamboo as a teacher, who has incorporated in his being the two natures necessary for life: emptiness and strength. Emptiness, void, space, nothingness, the cave: representing the feminine. And strength as the resistance, the hardness, the knots: the masculine.
The work with Maestro Tito will have a shamanic character, going through different ritua moments and ceremonies. This work is based on his proposal of ancestral sound healing for his Escuela de Sonidos, Peru, with which he has been working for more than 40 years: The 9 Portals of Sound of the Tradition. Within his offering, Tito incorporates musical instruments such as feather antaras, whistling vessels, pututos (shell trumpets), ceramic antaras, ocarinas, bone and cane quenas, sikus, drums, rattles, feathers, charango and bamboo flutes; such as the flute of love, flute of prayer, flute of the grandparents, among others; creating a sacred, deep and healing space, establishing a dialogue of times to make an inner journey.
We will be accompanied by Maestro Benito Apaza, Pampamisayoq Elder, belonging to the Apaza lineage of the Q’ero Nation, guardians of the rituals and ceremonies of the ancestral Andean tradition. Maestro Benito will accompany us in some rituals, sharing the wisdom of his people through his powerful Quechua prayers, as well as officiating the ceremony of offering to the Pachamama and the Apus.
We will also have a master class with Omar La Rosa, Tito’s son, musician, scholar of traditional Andean music, luthier of La Rosa de Bambu; musical healing flutes, and Sikuri guide. Additionally, we have Vanessa and Adrian who will serve for an optional Temazcal “Inipi” ceremony. The have been students, assistants and practitioners of this sacred purification and prayer ceremony with different native elders from some native north American traditions such as Sioux, Dakota, Lakota, Oglala, for the last years.
Finally, this will be a journey with the Andean tradition, with the sound and with the seed. More than a trip, it will be an experience of lifetime, a time of opening and learning, to transform ourselves through all these experiences, to be able to translate it into a more conscious life experience, more human, more balanced and respectful, more just and in harmony with all of Existence.
- Sacha Mariel La Rosa
